CouchCritic ("we," "our," or "us") is a Chrome extension that allows users to comment on shows and movies across streaming platforms. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the CouchCritic extension and related services.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you sign in with Google, we collect:

• Display name
• Email address
• Profile photo URL
• Google account unique identifier (UID)

2.2 User-Generated Content

When you use CouchCritic, we collect:

• Comments you post
• Votes (upvotes/downvotes) you cast
• Reports you submit about other comments
• The content ID associated with your comments (to display comments on the correct show/movie)

2.3 Usage Data

We track limited usage metrics:

• Number of comments posted per day (for rate limiting)
• Timestamp of last comment (for spam prevention)
• Account creation date

2.4 What We Do NOT Collect

• We do NOT collect your streaming viewing history
• We do NOT collect your streaming account credentials
• We do NOT track your browsing history outside of supported platforms
• We do NOT collect health, financial, or location data
• We do NOT store credit card information (payments are processed by Stripe)
• We do NOT monitor network activity, clicks, mouse position, or keystrokes

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely for the following purposes:

• Authentication: To verify your identity and allow you to sign in
• Displaying comments: To show your name and photo alongside your comments
• Content moderation: To enforce community guidelines and prevent abuse
• Rate limiting: To prevent spam by enforcing daily comment limits
• Subscription management: To manage your subscription tier and features
• Reputation system: To maintain community quality through user reputation scores

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore), which provides encryption at rest and in transit. Authentication is handled through Firebase Authentication using Google OAuth 2.0. Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe — we never store or have access to your credit card details.

5. Data Sharing

We do NOT sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We share data only with:

• Google Firebase: For data storage and authentication
• Stripe: For payment processing (only if you subscribe to a paid plan)
• Google Perspective API: For automated content moderation (comment text only, no personal data)

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of all data we hold about you
• Correction: Update your display name or profile information
• Deletion: Request complete deletion of your account and all associated data
• Portability: Request an export of your data in a machine-readable format

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Comments older than 2 years may be automatically deleted. If you delete your account, all associated data (profile, comments, votes, reports) will be permanently removed within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

CouchCritic is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of CouchCritic after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
